John founded the firm in 1980 that has evolved into the present day Ritchie Ketcheson Hart & Biggart LLP.
Over the course of his legal career, John has acted for individuals and corporate entities in connection with a variety of litigious matters in diverse areas of the law, including civil, planning, development, environmental and railway matters. John has acted for numerous municipalities, including the former City of Etobicoke (for which the firm acted from 1980 until its amalgamation into the City of Toronto in 1997), the City of Burlington, the Towns of Orangeville, Ajax, Oakville and New Tecumseth, to name a few. In that regard, he has appeared as counsel before the Ontario Municipal Board and the Canadian Transportation Agency, as well as in all levels of Court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal for Ontario. John also has been counsel in litigious matters to a number of Ontario First Nation communities, including Mishkeegogaming First Nation, Muskrat Dam First Nation and Big Trout Lake (Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug) First Nation.
